Catch Technologies Inc. - Driver Screening Policy
Last Updated: October 2025
1. Purpose and Commitment
Catch Technologies Inc. (“Catch,” “we,” “our,” “us”) is committed to providing a safe, reliable, and professional ride-sharing experience for both riders and drivers. Ensuring the safety and integrity of our community begins with a thorough and compliant driver screening process that meets or exceeds Canadian legal standards.
This policy outlines the mandatory screening, verification, and compliance measures applied to all individuals seeking to drive on the Catch Platform across Canada, with particular attention to the requirements in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
2. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to drive with Catch, applicants must meet the following requirements:
-
Age Requirement: Minimum 21 years of age.
-
Licensing:
-
Must hold a valid Provincial Class 1, 2, or 4 driver’s licence (or equivalent commercial licence, depending on jurisdiction).
Licence must have been held in good standing for at least one (1) consecutive year in Canada.
-
-
Vehicle Standards:
-
Vehicle must be registered in the driver’s name or with proof of authorized use.
Vehicle must be no older than 8 model years, pass annual mechanical inspection, and be adequately insured for commercial (ride-hailing) use.
Proof of valid vehicle registration, insurance, and inspection certificate must be uploaded before activation.
-
-
Work Eligibility:
-
Proof of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work authorization under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada).
-
3. Identity & Profile Verification
All drivers are required to upload:
-
A clear, forward-facing profile photo (no sunglasses, hats, or filters).
-
The photo must include the driver’s full face and shoulders, be well-lit, and be taken specifically for the Catch profile (not a scan of a document).
-
Catch may use facial verification technology for security purposes, in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and relevant provincial privacy laws.
4. Background Screening
All prospective drivers must successfully complete a criminal background and driving record check before being approved on the Catch Platform. Catch uses a certified third-party screening provider, such as Certn, to conduct these checks in compliance with Canadian law.
The screening includes:
-
Criminal Record Check (CPIC) — includes searches for convictions, outstanding charges, warrants, and other records as allowed by law.
-
Vulnerable Sector Check where required (e.g., for CatchKids or CatchShe drivers).
-
Driver Abstract Review — includes history of traffic violations, suspensions, and demerit points.
-
Sex Offender Registry Search, where applicable.
All checks are conducted with informed consent and written authorization from the applicant. Catch does not discriminate based on protected grounds under the Canadian Human Rights Act or provincial human rights codes.
5. Annual and Continuous Screening
-
Catch re-runs of criminal and driving record screenings annually for all active drivers.
-
Catch also uses continuous monitoring systems (where available) to identify new infractions, suspensions, or criminal activity that may affect driver eligibility.
-
Drivers must immediately notify Catch if their licence, registration, or insurance status changes or is suspended.
6. Random Compliance Audits
Catch reserves the right to conduct random audits or in-person verification meetings with active drivers to ensure compliance with this policy.
-
Selected drivers must provide updated copies of required documents (licence, insurance, registration, inspection).
-
Failure to comply, falsification of documents, or refusal to participate may result in temporary suspension or permanent deactivation from the platform.
7. Data Privacy and Retention
-
Personal data collected through this screening process will be stored securely and used solely for verification and compliance purposes.
-
Catch complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and where applicable, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) in Saskatchewan and the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) in Alberta.
-
Records are retained for as long as necessary to meet legal, safety, and regulatory requirements and will be destroyed securely thereafter.
8. Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
-
Catch does not sponsor any employee for LMIA after the end of their work permit.
-
Catch does not have any arrangement with Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to present its case with them for the reasons of sponsoring any employee.
-
If an employee’s work permit expires and they can not renew it for any reason or the other, Catch will have to disqualify them until such issues have been remedied.
9. Disqualification and Reconsideration
Drivers may be disqualified or temporarily suspended if:
-
Their background check reveals serious criminal offences, fraudulent activity, or recent impaired driving convictions.
-
Their licence or insurance has expired, been suspended, or revoked.
-
They provide false, incomplete, or misleading information.
Drivers may request a review or reconsideration by submitting supporting documentation and a written explanation to admin@gotocatch.com.
10. Continuous Improvement
Catch regularly reviews and updates this policy to ensure ongoing compliance with federal and provincial legislation, municipal bylaws, and evolving best practices in ride-hailing safety.
